With the Cornerstone Legacy Contract investors donate 2% of their portfolio’s value to one of the prescreened charities listed in the contract and Cornerstone reduces our regular management fee by 25%.

Why a 2% donation? 2% can be the average expected dividend rate for a portfolio. Giving 2% is just directly re-investing those dividends back into the emerging markets from which investors may be getting paid dividends.

The donated percentage will be calculated by deducting half of a percent at the end of each quarter. The resulting amount will then be sent on a quarterly basis to the selected charity. Because of the way the donation is calculated, it may or may not result in the actual donation equaling 2% of the portfolio’s value at any point in the year.This contract is structured exactly like the regular Cornerstone contract with the added section for the donation.

Cornerstone does not give tax advice, so you will want to speak with your accountant about any tax benefits a donation like this would incur.

$1 Million by 2016
By 2016, Cornerstone would like to reach the goal of sending $1 million dollars a year to various global charities -- and continue to see that number grow.

This goal only equates to about $50 million dollars under management with the new contract in 5 years. We believe this is a relatively low target but want to take into consideration that this kind of donation program is not for everyone.

You may prefer a different way to give. Cornerstone just wants to provide our clients with an easy way to make living their legacy a part of everyday life and not a chore that needs to be researched or a guilt driven response to a commercial.
